Dashcam FAQ
Why should I install a dashcam?
A dashcam provides valuable video evidence in the event of an accident, hit-and-run, vandalism, or insurance dispute. It can also help protect you from false claims and capture unexpected incidents on the road.
What dashcam brands do you install?
We install a range of trusted dashcam brands including Viofo, DDPAI, BlackVue, Thinkware, RedTiger and customer-supplied dashcams.
Do you hardwire dashcams?
Yes. We professionally hardwire dashcams to provide a clean installation with hidden cables and access to parking mode functionality where supported.
What is parking mode?
Parking mode allows the dashcam to continue monitoring your vehicle while parked. Depending on the dashcam model, it can record motion, impacts, or suspicious activity around your vehicle.
Do I need parking mode?
Not everyone does. Parking mode is particularly useful for vehicles regularly parked on the street, in public car parks, or unattended for extended periods.
Can a dashcam drain my battery?
A professionally installed dashcam should not drain your battery. We use hardwire kits, OBD kits, battery protection settings, or external battery packs where appropriate to help protect your vehicle's battery.
Do electric vehicles (EVs) need a different installation method?
Some EVs and hybrids require a different approach when setting up parking mode and power management. We assess each vehicle individually and recommend the most suitable installation method.
How long does a dashcam installation take?
Most dashcam installations take approximately 2 to 3 hours depending on the vehicle, dashcam model, number of cameras, and parking mode requirements.
Do you install customer-supplied dashcams?
Yes. We offer professional installation services for customer-supplied dashcams.
Can I transfer my dashcam to another vehicle?
In most cases, yes. We can remove and reinstall your dashcam into another vehicle. Additional charges may apply depending on the complexity of the installation.
Do you install front-only, front and rear, and 3-channel dashcams?
Yes. We install front-only (1CH), front and rear (2CH), and front, rear and cabin (3CH) dashcam systems.
Where are the cables installed?
All wiring is concealed behind vehicle trims and panels wherever possible to provide a clean factory-style appearance.
How much storage do I need?
Most drivers are well served by a 64GB or 128GB high-endurance memory card. Higher capacities may be recommended for 3-channel systems or extended parking mode use.
Will the dashcam record when the memory card is full?
Yes. Most dashcams use loop recording, which automatically overwrites the oldest unlocked footage when the memory card becomes full.
Can I view footage on my phone?
Many modern dashcams include Wi-Fi connectivity, allowing footage to be viewed and downloaded directly to your smartphone.
Do dashcams record audio?
Most dashcams include audio recording, which can usually be enabled or disabled through the camera settings.
